Section01

The work, in four forms.

We do one thing — endodontics — and we do it with care. Below are the procedures that make up the day-to-day, each one geared toward saving the natural tooth.

№ 01
Root Canal
Treatment
Gentle, precise therapy with digital X-rays and microscopic visualization — saving your natural tooth and avoiding extractions.
A root canal is a common, conservative procedure that removes infected pulp from inside the tooth, then carefully cleans, shapes, and seals the canal. We use:
  • Digital X-rays with significantly less radiation than traditional film
  • Surgical operating microscopes for precision
  • Modern rotary systems that reduce chair time
  • Single-visit treatment when clinically appropriate
Most patients tell us it feels like getting a filling.
№ 02
Endodontic
Retreatment
When a previously treated tooth doesn't heal or develops new issues, our specialists can re-treat it and restore your comfort.
Even successful root canals can occasionally need follow-up care. Common signs include:
  • Lingering or returning pain
  • Swelling or tenderness near the tooth
  • Sensitivity to pressure or temperature
Dr. Chen and Dr. Vera specialize in retreatment using advanced microscopic visualization — often saving teeth that would otherwise need extraction.
№ 03
Emergency
Root Canal
Severe tooth pain shouldn't wait. We prioritize emergencies and offer same-day treatment when availability allows.

If pain medication isn't helping and your tooth pain is interfering with daily life, you may need urgent care. We serve Fremont, Milpitas, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and surrounding Bay Area communities. Get our office numbers →
№ 04
Endodontic
Surgery
When non-surgical treatment isn't enough, microsurgical procedures can save the tooth — including apicoectomy and other targeted root-end surgeries.
Some teeth need more than a standard or repeat root canal — particularly when infection persists at the root tip, or when anatomy makes conventional access difficult. Endodontic surgery, performed under microscopic visualization, lets us treat the problem directly with minimal disruption. Common procedures include:
  • Apicoectomy (root-end surgery)
  • Root-end resection and filling
  • Surgical management of cracks and perforations
  • Biopsy and removal of pathology
Most surgical visits take about an hour, and recovery is typically faster than patients expect.
Section02

A practice built around comfort & clarity.

Endodontics has a reputation for being scary. Our patients tell us the opposite — calm, informed, well cared for from first call to final follow-up.

Most arrive nervous. Most leave with a smile — and a story to tell.

It's not magic. It's careful anesthesia, modern technology, and a team that takes the time to listen before they reach for an instrument.

№ 01

Patient first

We listen, explain, and never rush. Your comfort is the standard, not an upgrade.

№ 02

Painless work

Modern anesthesia, gentle technique. Most patients feel nothing at all.

№ 03

Modern instruments

Digital imaging, surgical microscopes, single-visit rotary systems.

№ 04

Same-day care

We hold time every day for patients in pain. Just call.

Question 02 / 04

Which best describes the pain?

Question 03 / 04

Question 04 / 04

Section05

Voices, after the visit.

Most arrive nervous. These are real reviews from Google and Yelp, lightly edited for length.

"
Dr. Judy Chen is the best. I was very apprehensive before seeing her and heard horror stories from friends. Truly painless, she was super efficient and is such a nice person. I would highly recommend Dr. Chen to anyone needing a root canal.

Had my first root canal done by Dr. Vera. I was scared and nervous, but Dr. Vera and his staff made me feel comfortable and at ease.

Dr. Vera and his staff explained everything in detail from cost, insurance, the procedure and after care. They even called the day after the procedure to make sure I was okay.

Thank you Dr. Vera for saving my tooth! I hope I never need a root canal again, but if I do I will go back to you for sure!

Section06

From first call to full recovery.

Knowing what's ahead is half the comfort. Here's exactly how a visit tends to go.

01

Reach out

02

Imaging & consult

Digital X-rays, a thorough exam, and a clear, honest explanation of your options.

03

Comfortable treatment

Most root canals are completed in a single visit. You'll be numb, comfortable, and informed.

04

Personal follow-up

We call you the next day to check in and answer questions. Your tooth is saved.

Section07

Honest answers, plainly given.

Don't see your question? Reach out — we're happy to talk through anything before you book.

№ 01Does a root canal hurt?+
No — and we know that's hard to believe. With modern anesthesia and gentle technique, the procedure is comparable to getting a filling. The discomfort you feel beforehand usually goes away by the end of the appointment.
№ 02How long does it take?+
Most root canals are completed in 60–90 minutes in a single visit. Complex cases or retreatments may occasionally need a second appointment, but we'll always tell you up front.
№ 03Do you accept my insurance?+
We are an independent specialty practice and participate as an out-of-network provider. Here's what that means for you:
  • We handle all insurance paperwork and submit claims directly on your behalf — you don't have to do a thing.
  • Your insurance company will reimburse you directly for the covered portion of your treatment.
  • Our team provides a clear cost estimate before your visit so there are no surprises.
  • Being independent means our clinical decisions are guided by your best outcome — not network contracts.
№ 04Do I need a referral?+
No referral required. Many patients are referred by their general dentist, but you're welcome to call us directly. We coordinate with your dentist throughout treatment.
№ 05What does recovery look like?+
Most patients return to normal activity the same day. Tenderness can be expected to last anywhere from a few days, sometimes a few weeks. The vast majority of teeth feel fairly normal by one month. We'll call to check in the day after.
№ 06How much does it cost?+
Cost depends on the tooth and complexity. We provide a written estimate before any treatment and offer flexible financing options including CareCredit. Most insurance plans cover a significant portion.
№ 07Will my tooth need a crown?+
Most molars and premolars need a crown after a root canal to protect the tooth long-term. Your general dentist typically places the crown 2–4 weeks after we finish.
